This shot, taken on a three-day trip on a traditional houseboat through the backwaters of Kerala, shows a farmer herding his ducks, near Alleppey. The farmers leave their ducks in the paddy fields after harvest to eat the leftover grains, and later sell the eggs and meat in the local markets. The Kerala backwaters are a labyrinthine system formed by more than 900km of interconnected canals, rivers, lakes and inlets, lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast) in southern India.
